Ka'Lya comes home!

This is my babe! She looks like a little doll. We put her in the shelf to show how small she is. She was wide awake right after my mom bathed her. She looks like a monkey. That is one of those willow tree angels on the right. It sort of shows how small she is.
This is her car seat that she came home in. She weighs under 5lbs. She came home weighing 1905 grams. This is about 4lbs 3oz. She is our tiniest baby we have ever brought home. She is doing so well though. We were worried today would not be the day because last night she weighed 1860 grams and on 04/28/09 she weighed 1865 grams so she lost 5 grams and that would mean she did not gain so she could not come home. But with prayers on our side they decided to weigh her in the morning and she gained! We were so happy to find out.

This is Ku'uipo's doll she got for Christmas. Her name is Kayla, kinda weird that it is spelled just like Ka'Lya with the Y moved around. Anyways, Kevin calls her doll Oprah and she gets so mad, but today she brought her down and it showed how truly small Kya is. We laughed and laughed.

My Dad, Kya's Papa came to see her and love her. He has such a special connection with her. When I got pregnant Kevin and I swore it was a boy. I know there is a little boy to come to our family one day, so I assumed this was going to him. My dad prayed for the baby often and when he did say a prayer he often said, "please bless HER to be healthy and strong." Every time he did it my mom would question him why he said HER. He would look at her puzzled and then say, "Did I?" It happened 3 times. He knew that she was a she. I did not find out the sex of her until 6 ultrasounds later. My dad knew her and she knows him. I love you Papa!

Keo was excited to see her but not as excited to hold her forever. He looked at her loved and walked away to play.
Ki'Aja thinks she is soooo big!

I have never seen Kee'Onu so happy! He has been our worry wart. His prayers to bless Ka'Lya have become very emotional for him, and once he saw how she is OK he became relaxed and could not wait to love her in his arms!
Here is the little mommy! She thinks she's going to get up with her every night!! Ha. That will get old real fast. I told her she can take the weekends. LOL.

Today was the most rewarding day! Everything that Kevin and I anticipated and planned for happened today. What a wonderful spiritual day. We got up to the hospital at 10AM and we were out of there by 10:45AM. They got us in and out. We were so happy. We came home and just had a nice family night with the kids and a nice dinner. My wonderful mom came over and bathed her. I will post those pics tomorrow. My mom also helped us clean the house and get it all baby fresh feelin'. What a fantastic day!

Ka'Lya 3-4 days old!

I absolutely love her binky. It is so cute and her head is barely bigger than it. Just to give you an idea of how little she is, her head is the size of a large orange. She is so sweet and when she sucks the binky it melts my heart.

Right after her first bath! She loved them scrubbing her head with the brush. Her bath was given on April 25, 2009 at about 7:30PM and she loved it. It did however wear her out and she was tired the entire next day.

Me and my baby Kya, she is 32 hours old. She is just like a little monkey. I want to update what her weight has been and how she has been doing. It has been bugging me that I have not documented it yet. So she was born on 04/22/09 at 5:30PM 16 1/2 inches long. She was passed through the window directly to the NICU. There they gave her some O2 to pink her up. Her apgar scores were 4 and 6, which is pretty good for a 33 weeker. They never had to give her O2 in a nasal cannula or even by intubation. By the next day April 23, early morning she was brought to the well baby nursery intermediate care. Here, in this nursery, we have a lot more privileges. We can hold her more often and even feed her. She did have a jaundice score of 6.2 and then on 4/24 a score of 7.2, which is normal. With age the bili will rise so it was a normal jump. She was under the lights until 4/25. After that her levels were good and she was taken off the lights. On Saturday when Kevin and I came to the hospital she was off the lights and nearly ready to be in an open crib. That night they put her in an open crib, which means no more isolette or AKA incubator. She did have a set back. She lost weight and was not eating as well, the nurses believe it is because of all the energy she was using to keep her body temperature up. It wore her out and she was having a hard time finding the energy to eat. They decided she was not ready for an open crib and they put her back in the isolette on Sunday around 12:30PM. I noticed a difference when I came to see her. I decided not to nurse her as often because she needed to gain her strength back.
Her weight has been pretty steady. They measure her in grams because it is more precise and they can see even the most minute loss or gain. Hopefully her weight will continue to rise.
Here is her weights 04/24/09 1770 g or 3lbs 14 oz.
04/25/09 1755 g or 3lbs 14 oz.
04/26/09 1750 g or 3lbs 14 oz.
04/27/09 1725 g or 3lbs 13 oz.
04/28/09 1735 g or 3lbs 13 oz.
I am about to nurse her and lets hope for the best!

Ka'Lya 24-48 hours old.

Ka'Lya is so sweet. Here her face looks like it has filled out, she looks healthy and gorgeous!

My best friends. Cami and Alisha. They were so lovely, since they know the U's hospital food is the most disgusting food on the planet, they brought me my favorite Italian Village Pizza Bender! I was so thankful, I even ate the whole thing and wanted more. Thanks guys for coming and seeing my beautiful babe.
Here is Kevin and his sweet sparkle in his eye. He glows as a Dad. The spiritual connection that he and Kya has is so strong. When I was pregnant with her she was very active. On those days that I realized I had not felt her move I would panic and call Kevin over. He would set his warm hand on my belly and she would kick within seconds. I would be squishing my belly, pushing on it, rubbing it and nothing and Kevin's warm hand and electric spirit awakened her and she had to let him know she was there. Now that she is out and in the hospital the connection is not only felt, but visible. I am allowed to nurse her every other feeding so I sit down and get ready for her and Kevin sits in the chair next to me. They hand her to me and I get situated, as soon as I try and get her to latch on I feel stress because it is so important that she grasps this. Kevin is very supportive and tries to talk Kya through it. This is awful! I know you are wondering why, heres why: The second Kevin sits down she begins looking and turning towards him. No words have been spoken and yet she knows he is there. The funny thing is when I am beginning to try and get her to latch on Kevin says "Come on Ka'Lya you can do it!" She stops focusing on me and begins routing towards Kevin. In the complete opposite direction of my breast!!! This happens over and over. I finally had to tell Kevin STOP. No more talking and scoot your chair back. He did and guess what she finally got the hang of latching on. Poor Kevin was sad that he had to be quiet, but more ecstatic that she is getting the hang of nursing. Tonight when we go I am going to get it on video so we can have it documented. I feel so blessed.

I just love this babe! I want to squish her cheeks and kiss them over and over! I also cannot wait to comb her hair and wash it. I am going to post the "Labor Day" hopefully tomorrow. It was such a magical experience full of peace and anticipation. It could not have been more perfect. I want to thank everyone who came to see her and us. We have the best friends and family in the world! Love you all.

Ka'Lya ShirRae Fuller!

This is my sweet new baby Ka'Lya ShirRae Fuller. She was born 04/22/09 weighing 4lbs, 16.5 inches long and absolutely perfect! She is 33.2 weeks gestation. She came out breathing on her own, and she even has the sucking reflex, which usually does not come until 34 weeks. I get to try and feed her tomorrow. She is even moving to the well baby nursery in the morning if everything goes well tonight. I love being by her side and looking at all her perfect features. I will write tomorrow about how perfect the delivery went. Just a quick post to let you all know all is well. Love you all.

Happy 31st Anniversary Mom and Dad!

31 years ago today my wonderful mom and dad tied the knot in fun Las Vegas. The stories from their sweet low budget wedding make us all laugh but the bond and love that was united that day has changed so many lives. The word I use to describe their love has always been TWITTERPATED! Their love began young and has kept them young. Despite the many health problems that they have had to endure their personalities and actions prove that they still have young love. They have beat the odds being 17 and 19 at marriage with the most perfect human being on the way (ME), LOL. They have been wonderful parents and now I look up to them for my parenting needs. What a blessing they have been to my kids. I just hope that they know how much I truly love them and am so grateful to have them in my life!! Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad, here's to another 31.

Congratulations to Kevin.

Last night was Kevin's Police Awards Banquet. It was nice to go and see all his fellow officers. Kevin received an award for the most arrests in 2008 and for his statistical list he created and updates monthly. I love him and am so proud of him! Love you babe!
Here is the 31.5 week picture. My mom found this cute dress and it was just in time for Kevin's awards banquet. I went to the doctor a few hours before the banquet. I was so nervous because I did not want him to admit me like he has done so many times before. Luckily my mom was there and mentioned the banquet to him and that saved me. I am dilated to a 2+ my cervix is soft and I have another issue dealing with my liver that can be dangerous for me and the babe. He decided he would run some tests and do a non-stress test which is monitoring of the baby's heartbeat and activity, and then monitor my contractions. Then they would re-check me and see if there was any cervical change. They had 3 different scenarios and if it worked out they would let me go to the banquet. Well yahoo I got to go! I am now supposed to be on strict bed rest with bathroom privileges only!!! I am not good at that kind of bed rest. It is going to be hard because I have Ke'Lao's and Kee'Onu's birthday and we have Easter egg hunts and Easter. So I may need a lot of help to keep me down. Luckily I already bought their birthday presents and Easter stuff. I also have everything for their parties. It is so exciting for them. they both cannot wait. Well until next update I hope everyone has a great Easter and spring break with the kiddies.
